HAVI is seeking an intern to support the Packaging Development team from January - June 2018 in our Downers Grove location. Our interns participate in exciting projects and assignments that support our fast-paced business while working on their own and with team members as they embark on their careers.


In this coop-internship, we offer a 6-month program, 40-hour work weeks and a lunch subsidy!


Key responsibilities:

  • Support Packaging Development team members with the following:
    • Develop/test for new menu packaging Items
    • Execute supplier qualifications for existing packaging
    • Develop/Test innovative, compostable packaging alternatives for current menu packaging
    • Explore cost-savings or operational improvement opportunities through modification of existing packaging
    • Execute case-pack optimization to improve restaurant and/or supplier efficiencies
  • Create and manage packaging specifications
  • Conduct competitive assessments of food service packaging, assemble reports and present findings to team
  • Support consumer research, focus groups, sensory/kitchen testing set-up, and field testing
  • Coordinate and evaluate third-party lab testing 

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in packaging or relevant field
  • Completed all prerequisite classes to be eligible by start date
  • Minimum GPA of 3.2
  • Demonstrated time management skills through course work and extracurricular activities
  • MS Office experience(Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Collaborative/teamwork oriented
