• Packaging Development Project Engineer

  • Overview



    • Provide packaging development support and expertise in-line with the needs and expectations identified by McDonald’s and as identified by HGS PD Project Managers. Includes ongoing project communication, status updates and support
    • Recommend creative solutions with an appropriate balance of innovation, risk management, benefit and cost.
    • Fully leverage our supplier capabilities including Co-Resourcing and technical specialists that deliver results effectively and in a timely manner.
    • Interface with cross functional departments and suppliers to deliver solutions in-line with the requirements and customer expectations.
    • Responsible for coordinating packaging testing and formalizing testing reports, including testing at customer facilities, such as test kitchens, in-store testing and any outside lab tested required to validate and help sell-in the concepts. Coordinate restaurant testing with internal cross functional team to validate packaging performance and crew interaction.
    • Develop and maintain knowledge of critical consumer and operational issues as well as key packaging technologies relevant to QSR packaging and the gamut of the customer priorities
    • Assist in the development and maintenance of appropriate packaging specifications for the customer base
    • Provide support for general packaging development requirements including Alternate Supplier Qualifications, Case Pack Optimization and general process documentation.


    Desired Skills & Experience


    • Technical competency in the fundamentals of packaging science including knowledge of substrates, structural design, manufacturing processes, and testing protocols
    • General proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Powerpoint
    • Comfort with an autonomous working environment
    • Familiarity with the basics of Project Management including scoping and management of project time-lines
    • Ability to work with and learn from multi-functional teams including the tactical support needed to execute against formal objectives and business plans
    • Analytical approach to problem solving and decision making
    • Strong communication skills
